Plasma Cutting

Plasma cutting has long been seen as a low cost alternative to oxy-fuel and laser profiling where cut angle was not an issue. Recent developments in the high precision/high definition plasma process have significantly improved the quality and capabilities of plasma cutting, making it a more versatile and accurate option than ever before.

Application Suitability

Plasma cutting is suitable for various materials particularly mild steels and stainless steels producing an excellent edge finish.

Enhancements to the control systems now mean that optimum cutting performance for a range of materials and thicknesses from 1mm to 32mm in mild steel (dependent upon the power of the plasma unit) can be achieved.

Parameters associated with cutting a wide range of materials and thicknesses such as cutting speed, gas types and gas pressures can now be controlled automatically by the Kerf equipment, ensuring a consistently high cut quality.

Users now have a truly cost effective alternative to other cutting processes.

Our Capability

At Kerf, we take the time to understand your needs and will only ever recommend the most appropriate piece of machinery. Priding ourselves on our ability to instinctively recognise which cutting units are suitable for which applications, our experienced team of engineers are always on hand to advise on product suitability.

We will then guide you through the installation process and beyond via the Kerf commitment to ongoing servicing and maintenance.

From the expandable flexible rail design of the RUR and RUM large format machines through to the compact Spitfire (for use where space is at a premium) we believe that there will always be a suitable cost effective solution available within the Kerf range.

Machine Range

RUR

The RUR profile cutting machine is designed specifically for users with a high production demand.

The machine frame is constructed from a mild steel fabricated design, ultrasonically stress relieved and manufactured to highly accurate tolerances. The machine is driven through twin side rack and pinion drives by servo motors and planetary gearboxes which are digitally synchronised. The rail system is manufactured using precision ground bar mounted on box section which is fitted on to thick walled fabricated track stands.

With the RUR range of machines, customers are able to configure machine widths and lengths to suit their own requirements. This could be to allow for larger plate sizes, or to provide the capability to load/unload and cut plates simultaneously in order to minimise downtime.

The RUR range is available for conventional and high definition plasma, and can be configured with combined plasma and oxy-fuel heads.

RUM

Of a similar design to the RUR range, the RUM is a highly configurable range of heavy duty profiling machines. The heavier construction design of the fabricated bridge provides the option of increasing the cutting width to 4,000mm.

The bridge construction is a rigid fabrication and is driven along the machine by twin side rack and pinion drives, heavy duty servo motors and planetary gearboxes which are digitally synchronised and controlled by the Burny CNC system.

Spitfire

The Spitfire profile cutting machine is designed specifically for high precision plasma cutting. To achieve this the Spitfire uses the latest technology in design and control utilising a Burny CNC system.

The integral machine bed and carriage is manufactured from a mild steel box section design. It is equipped with precision linear bearings, planetary gearboxes and servo motors to accurately position the cutting torch.

The operator panel offers easy operation, speed control, plasma control, initial height control and arc voltage height control for both manual and automatic cutting.

The Spitfire is ideal for applications where space limitations may be an issue dictating the machine configuration.

Service Promise

"Our reputation has been built on the quality of our products, the expertise of our engineers and above all, the integrity of our advice. For us to be satisfied with a job well done, you have to feel the same way first.
To that end, we only ever recommend the most appropriate solution for your cutting requirements and from that starting point, the quality of any after sales service and maintenance you receive will always be of the highest standard."
